I'm both signal boosting and recommending someone to add to your Reading page.

[personal profile] tkingfisher (you may know her as [livejournal.com profile] ursulav from LJ) is a wonderful writer and artist. I've been reading her LJ for possibly more than 12 years (I'm a non-commenter there, she doesn't seem to mind and generally has far more readers than commenters). Her journal contains slice of life and gardening. Lots of gardening.

As Ursula Vernon she is a children's book writer by day and as T Kingfisher she writes these amazing retelling of fairytales that are not for children, but suitable for publishing.

(Nothing steamy, its just that there is usually something in there you don't want to have to try and explain to a small child. One book opens with an elf veterinarian assisting a unicorn in labour.)

Anyway, she has just published Jackalope Wives - go look tkingfisher.dreamwidth.org/1486618.html I'll wait. I'm interested to learn what you think.

If you like it there are another seven books out there. Some standalone and others are short story collections. All just as charming and engaging.

Thank you! I used to follow her over at LJ, but didn't know she had a journal here.
